The Bichon Frise is a small but sturdy dog with well developed musculation. The Bichon grows to a height of approximately 9 1/2 to 11 1/2 inches and weighs in at 14-20 lbs, with the female generally being at the smaller end of that range.
The hair is white in color,though some tan, buff or apricot markings are permissible by breed standards, and is non-shedding and non-allergenic. Curly when wet, the powder-puff appearance of the Bichon is achieved through blow-drying. He needs daily brushing to keep the coat free of matts and tangles.
The Bichon walks briskly with his tail held curved high over his back, a reflection of his character. He has a cheerful personality, gentle manner and playful temperment. A wonderful breed with children. He is a loyal, devoted, affectionate companion for any age or family size.
